Description

Even though less than half of the Australian population are men, more men than women are diagnosed with cancer each year. In 2013 in Australia, 68,936 men were diagnosed with cancer which is 10 percent more than women. In 2014, the age–standardised mortality rate was 162 deaths per 100,000 persons (200 for males and 132 for females)1.

This education session will hear from expert speakers on current diagnostic techniques, management and prognosis for men diagnosed with testicular, renal and bladder cancers.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this symposium, participants should be able to*

  • Identify signs and symptoms of bladder and kidney cancers
  • List options for management of bladder and kidney cancers
  • Identify patients who may be at risk of developing bladder and kidney cancers
  • List biological therapy options for Renal cancer
  • List options for management of testicular cancer
  • Summarise the diagnostic imaging techniques for bladder, renal and testicular cancers
  • Outline potential fertility issues, and options available to patients
  • Identify potential early and late side effects of radiation treatment for Bladder cancer.
